Common questions
Why don't I see the camera Measure option?
Camera measuring uses the LiDAR sensor, which is on iPhone Pro models. On other iPhones you can enter heights by hand.
How do I get an accurate measurement?
Have your child stand straight against a wall, barefoot, heels on the floor, looking ahead. Use good light and keep the floor and the top of their head in view. For the most consistent results, measure at the same time of day.
Why can't I make a character?
Characters are made with Apple's Image Playground, which needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence with it turned on in Settings. A clear photo with good light works best. If the character isn't right, use Edit character and describe the change.
My data isn't showing on my other iPhone or iPad.
Heightlings syncs through your private iCloud. Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and that iCloud is on for Heightlings. Sync can take a few minutes. Two parents with different Apple Accounts don't share data yet.
I bought Heightlings Plus but it's locked.
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Plus is a one-time purchase and works with Family Sharing.
How do I back up or move my data?
In the app, go to Settings, then Your data. Back up saves a file you can keep anywhere, and Restore adds it back. You can also export all heights as a CSV file.
What do the percentiles mean?
A percentile compares your child's height with children of the same age and sex in the CDC and WHO growth standards. "Taller than 75 of 100" means the 75th percentile. Heightlings is for general information and is not a medical device. Talk to your pediatrician about any concerns.
